event is typically underwritten in entirety by sponsors,

Created in 1985, by a
group of concerned citizens, the Montgomery County Food
Bank has continued to serve an ever growing need
throughout Montgomery County. The MCFB warehouses and
distributes grocery products to the member pantries who
in turn serve the people of Montgomery County. The MCFB
has grown from eight pantries in 1985 serving
approximately 500 individuals to twenty-eight pantries,
serving approximately 12,000 individuals on a monthly
basis. In 2002, 457,492 pounds of food was distributed to
the pantries. This past year, we have distributed 668,983
pounds of food (an increase of 46%) into Montgomery
County. We are expecting the number of those in need to
increase in 2004 with the current economic conditions and
the growth of Montgomery County.
The Montgomery County food Bank is here for all in
Montgomery County. Not only are the working poor in need
but people who have worked and previously donated to the
food bank are now finding themselves without a job and
placing them in a situation that is new to them. Because
of the current economic situation, more people from the
middle to up-scale neighborhoods are finding themselves
in an emergency situation.
The MCFB continues to look for an opportunity to serve
those in need by helping an existing food pantry or
opening a new pantry in an area that is not currently
being served by MCFB. The MCFB accepts applications from
non-profit organizations that serve food to the needy.
The Montgomery County Food Bank continually seeks
monetary donations, grants, food donations and
volunteers. Cash donations enable the food bank to
purchase food at a much reduced rate through the Houston
Food Bank. All food product is given free of charge to
the member pantries to distribute to the needy of
Montgomery County.
The Montgomery County Food Bank is committed to helping
disadvantaged families and families who are in a crisis
situation in Montgomery County.
Start Location:
Panther Creek Shopping Center on
Woodlands Parkway
Directions: Take I-45 to
the Woodlands Parkway exit. Go west on Woodlands Parkway (left if you're
coming from the south, right if you're coming from the north). You will
go through 4 red lights. The last 2 cross streets are both called
Panther Creek. Immediately after going through the 4th light, which is
the second street called Panther Creek, turn right into the shopping
center. We usually set up registration near the clock tower, in the
general vicinity of Eckerd's.
If you're coming by way of Kuydendahl, turn right off of Kuykendahl onto
Woodlands Parkway. Go just a few miles, and turn left at the light at
Gosling. Then, make a quick right into the shopping center.
