Like I mentioned in the last blog post, I love choir. I started singing in my schools choir my sophomore year and loved it ever since. My favorite genre of choral music are gospel pieces. As an alto, I can appreciate the fun harmonies.
Our choir has been working on our annual winter concert since September, this is a big deal because this was also our first concert inside the auditorium in two years. Our show will be called “Rebirth” and will feature choral pieces about how we want to see rebirth in this world. While preparing this special concert we decided that admission will be free and instead we will ask the audience to donate to a charity instead. I am honored to say that Team Cure was chosen.
I got some volunteers to tend to a donation and information table while I was singing and I gave a spiel about Team Cure’s story to the audience before the show about how they can help and learn more about our organization.
The concert was amazing, our hard work paid off and we sounded pretty amazing. Not only that but Team Cure raised hundreds of dollars and we got a lot of toys and donations. The most overwhelming and beautiful part of the night was the spirit that was in that auditorium. The spirit of passion and giving. When I came out to the table after the show there was a line of people opening their wallets wanting to donate to Team Cure. It was a beautiful sight to behold. You don’t see people eager to give often. I was blown away when I checked our Venmo that night and was overwhelmed in the best way with all the money we raised and they boxes of toys collected. I just picture all of the packages we can send in the coming new year with these toys and shipping donations. I saw a rebirth of generosity last night.
Thank you SO much to all who donated that night and a huge thank you to our choir director, Mrs. Durkin for making this happen.
If you are local and missed the show don’t worry. There is a band concert Wednesday night same time same place that will also be supporting Team Cure :)
